It was a crisp winter day, as Me, Ben, Chase, and Jason lead out the 9 mares and 9 foals of the Godolphin Christmas Sale. The red, gold, and brown leaves drifted lazily across the ground, by the light wind outside. It hadn't snowed yet, but it was definatly getting chilly. The babies all looked awesome, and they were only three months old, all of them with thick winter coats already, and staying close to their moms. I had gone and purchased nine new baby blankets, nine matching halters, and nine matching leads. Godolphin always had a homey feel, it wasn't like most barns, which looked like they had come out of a catalogue. You needed to drive up the driveway, which was lined with bare maple trees, your car crunching on the cold gravel as it pulled up to the big metal gates. You needed to ring a bell, as Boomer and Sammy, two huge bull mastiffs greeted you with not very friendly growls, licking their lips and pacing back and forth in front of the gate. Soon, Jason, Godolphin's newest stablehand, would come down, greeting you with a big smile as he dismissed the dogs so you could drive in, and up to the stables. The Godolphin house was large and warm, and looked very inviting as you drive by it, as it was set a little ways away from the barns. The foals were in the far left pasture, and you had to go through the training barn, take a left, go through the courtyard, and then straight down to the pastures and huge feilds, to where the foals were out playing. There was groom baskets, and a long hitching post where you could tie up the moms, so you could play with the babies. All you had to do was come over to me and I would hand you a blanket, lead, and halter, and it was up to you to catch your foal. There also was a couple cans of grain to use.

Driving up through the gates of Godolphin Stables, the white SUV was parked and turned off before the infamous brunette stepped out of the car and pressed the button on her remote, locking her car. She walked towards the far pasture, spotting the foals already. She was dressed in white jeans and a soft baby blue sweater that was fluffy and warm. Her bi - colored gaze fell on the foals as she scanned them over, searching for her foal. She spotted a bay foal that seemed to look like a Djerba descendant before walking over to Maddy. "Hey," she said with a smile, giving an enthusiastic wave.

The truck and trailer rumbled down the drive toward Godolphin Stables. The sounds of scraping hooves came from inside the trailer as I put the truck in park and turned off the engine. Pushing open the door I stepped out and looked around GS. This was where three of my best horses' stories began. Walking around to the back of the trailer and three gleaming hindquarters greeted me. GS Brilliant Boo turned his head and whinnied out sharply. GS Infinitee snorted and shook her head. GS Gallant Prince, now almost ready to be retired pulled against the lead and danced with ears pricked.
Okay boy. You can be brought down first. I tell the anxious black Thoroughbred and slip around Peron and under the guard to Prince's lead rope. Backing Prince down the ramp took all of 10 seconds as the eager 5 year old charged down onto solid ground. Securing Prince next to the trailer I then brought GS Infinitee down and tied her on the other side away from Prince. Finally I backed Peron down who whinnied out again with ears pricked.

[Sherlock's point of view]
I drove down the Godolphin driveway, went through the gates and parked. Getting out, I looked around for Matty. Sighting her and the foals, I walked over. I scanned over the foals, looking for Maverick. I spotted the dark bay, and grinned. "Hi!" I said, still watching Mavy race around Flirtacious.

I saw Artie and waved. "Hey! Glad you could make it!" I said as I ran over and gave her a huge hug. "Summer is right over there..." I said as I went over to the fence and grabbed a light pink halter and black lead rope, before hunting through a box full of blankets, finally pulling out a black baby blanket with light pink trim. Running back I handed the halter, lead, and blanket to Artie. "She's the bay filly with the star and one hind sock. She shouldn't be too hard to catch, she's pretty layed back." I said as I motioned to the bay filly far out in the pasture. She was nibbling cold bits of grass and pawing the ground, her fluffy black tail giving the odd swish. She had big black eyes, and a poofy tuft of a forelock.

"Hey Sherlock!" I called as I gave Artie a pat on the back and a grin. "If you want to tie Smiles up so you can play with Summer, all the mares have their halters on today and will just lead beside you. They are pretty worn out after having these babies for three months!" I said as I went and rumaged around for Mavericks gold halter, black lead, and black blanket with gold trim. I finally found it and handed it to Sherlock. "He is hard to catch, he just wants to rocket around here like a maniac. It was too cold yesterday to turn them out so just watch him, he might want to give you a little kick if he is feeling too good." I said as I watched Flirt give a sigh and go hang out with Sonata. Mavy skidded around and noticing she had left freaked out and started to zoom around untill he finally found her, and stood defiantly by her side, rather annoyed at being ditched. Jason came down and said Melissa was here with some old friends, so I jumped the fence and ran up the pathway through the courtyard and training barn and out into the parking lot. "Mel! Hey! Aw you brought Prince, Maggie, and Peron!" I said as I gave Prince a good hug, ruffling his forelock. Then went over to the Man O' War daughter and slipped her a peice of stud muffin. Prince noticed and I had to go back and give him some too, before finally getting to Peron. "Where did you get him? I thought he had been forgotten!" I said as I rested my head on the bay colts neck.

I grinned and nodded, "Thanks." I said, taking the halter, lead, and blanket. I walked into the pasture and meandered over towards Mavy. I knew I wouldn't be able to just go up to the colt and catch him, but I wanted him to know what I wanted. I stopped a decent distance from where the colt stood with his dam, and I waited for the colt to make a move, supposing it would be away from me.

Hey Matty. How have you been? I said smiling and patted Peron's shining bay neck. I managed to convince Lauren of Sackatoga stables to sell him to me after some digging around at a couple of places. He's been doing brillantly in training and I'd thought I'd drag him along to hang out with Smiles Boo. I reply. Prince crans his neck around and nudges Matty happily. Maggie snorts and whickers happily at getting some treats. Turning his head Peron nuzzles Matty's hair.

The brunette took hold of the black blanket and the pink halter and lead before she scanned the field of foals. "Star and hind sock. Star and hind sock." she repeated quietly to herself as she let herself into the pasture and towards the laid back filly. "Hey Summer," she cooed, switching the items to one hand as she held her hand out for the filly.

The old red toyota pickup truck rumbled up the driveway, parking amongst the other vehicles as Jackie walked up to the far pasture. Her blonde hair shone in the sunlight, her piercing blue eyes so much like her mother's as she spotted Flirtacious and All Smiles out in the paddock. Her mother's prized mares. A smile swept over her face as the two mares trotted over to her, nudging her arms playfully with ears pricked. "Hello babies, how have you been doing? Your mummy's been missing you." Jackie cooes as she rubs the grey and bay's foreheads softly. She then remembered she was here to see the foal GS Peacekeeper and not these two precious mares. Flirt tossed her head in the air and bugled loudly as she reared up, hooves slashing the air powerfully before charging around the paddock with Smiley close behind her. Flirt had been so fiery and untame since running around in the wild for a few months with King of Kings but she was still a sweetheart to those of GMR. After all they had raised her from a baby. Smiley just didn't seem to trust anyone outside of GMR and since both were close friends they normally stuck together. Spotting the owner of GS Jackie walked over and smiled warmly, "Hey, I'm Jackie, Maria's daughter. I believe you have a foal for me."

Mavy looked at Sherlock, his tiny ears flicking back and forth, and his tiny nostrils blowing clouds into the air. He stomped the ground and when she got just close enough to catch him, he dodged away and pranced around her, staying just out of reach, his neck arched and his big eyes keeping an eye on her every move. Matty walked back with Melissa and the three Godolphin bred horses, giving Prince a nice big pasture to himself and a flake of hay, and putting Infinitee out with San D' Aigo Secrets, who was wary at first but after recognizing the filly she had been pastured beside greeted her with a friendly neigh. Peron went into a farther pasture, where he could see Boo roaming his pasture, the mountain side. It was a large fenced meadow at the cliff of the mountain, which was at the very back of the property. Boo had just been clipped and bathed so he looked nice for the company, but he had already rolled and his black coat brown, and his forelock already had two burrs in it. He loved being turned out in his huge pasture, where he could go a little ways up the moutain, but it was still fenced.
"Grab some grain and get Flirt, he'll let you catch him if she's tied." I called to Sherlock as I watched Mavy taunt her, just getting out of reach and being a cheeky little bugger. Jason brought out a couple more cans of grain and some bran mashes to give to the mares once they were caught and loosely tied, that way they wouldn't mind standing while the new owners cooed over their babies. Spotting Jackie he blushed and he tried to hide behind his dark brown hair. "Hey, Jason, show Jackie which one Dove is. Jackie this is Jason, he just started working here, don't give him a hard time." I said with a cheeky laugh and a wink. "Hi," he mumbled.
"I've been great Melissa, and you?" I asked as I grabbed a baby blue halter, black lead, and black blanket with baby blue trim, and handing it to her. "He's the black-ish colt. He's graying out fast, so he's still mostly black, and his moms the dappled gray mare right.... there!" I replied as I scanned the feild and pointed out the mare with her gray-black colt attemting to nurse. "He's shy but he should come up to you." I said.
Summer sniffed Artie before taking a wary step forward, curiosity getting the best of her. Stretching her neck she bumped Artie in the side, sticking her nose in her shirt and letting out a few snorts. Ears forward she nuzzled her cheek and stood quietly, watching this stranger.

Artemis let out a soft laugh before she cautiously stroked the filly's small muzzle. Switching the halter, she'd rather not take her chances with the filly possibling spazzing out so she held out the halter and lead rope. She'd wait a bit before trying out the blanket. "You are sooo adorable!" she squealed quietly. The brunette got excited pretty easily, but she fell in love with horses with huge brown eyes but this was also a FILLY! Eeek!

Summer looked at the halter and dismissed it without batting an eye, and gave Artie an odd looked when she laughed. She seemed to know Artie thought she was cute for she walked a little closer, giving Artie a slight headbutt and a little whinny, liping at her pockets to see if she had any treats. Even with Smiles taking off to go see Jackie, the little filly didn't even notice, continueing to be amused with this new friend, who might possibly have treats and be good at giving scratches and brushes!

Thanks I said and took the blanket, halter and lead from Matty. Aww Poe is cute. I say and smile. Okay I then say and tie Peron up before slipping into the paddock.
Heading slowly across the paddock I studied Goddess of War. As the dam of both GM Spirit and Poe I was interested to see how Disney behaved. Hello Poe. I say to the young colt and move to the front of Disney and holding my hand out to the fabulously bred daughter of Man O' War and Dark Goddess.

Disney looked for a treat and when not finding one went back to grazing. Poe however came over, he was already big and gave a little neigh as he stopped and mearly stood and looked at Melissa, his ears forward as he gave the ground a stomp, and slowly moved closer, not exactly sure who this person was, but she looked interesting.
