I listened carefully, smiling a bit as I saw Tori approach. Take it slow. Got it. I murmured, holding the halter, lead, and blanket in my hands before gently laying them across the fence rails. Silently, I kneel down so I didn't seem like a threat. But I kept one foot still on the ground, so I could get out of the way in case Tori decided to kick. I slowly extended my hand toward the filly as she took a hesitant step forward. I stopped moving when she did, and would only move forward when she did.

Tori let out a sigh and walked a little ways away from her mom, who kept an eye on her at all times. The little filly took a couple more steps towards Seth, before letting out a squeel and taking off down the pasture, her mom is hot pursuit and casting an evil look at poor Seth. "If you want there is grain up here, Sins will come to that," I said as I came down and handed her a can of grain. All the broodmares looked up, and Sins stopped, and came galloping back up, Tori following hestitantly. She was having fun with this new stranger, and wanted to make her work before she would be caught, and her mom was ruining it.

I grumbled a little as the filly bolted, but realized she was toying with me a little. Gratefully, I took the grain can and shook it a bit so that the precious kernels bounced off the sides. Sins, come get your grain or I'll give all of it to the other mares. I called, shaking it a bit more. I grabbed a halter and lead, getting ready to slip it over Sin's head if she came close enough.

Sin walked right up to Seth, ears forward as she followed the grain can. She was usually a really friendly mare, but she was worried about her baby with all these strangers and needed coaxing. Tori followed closely beside her mom, more willing to cooperate if mom was going too.

I gave Sin a handful of grain, then slipped the halter over her head and buckled the strap. I clasped the lead on it, and loosely put it over her neck so if she bolted, she wouldn't trip. I grabbed a brush from one of the conveniently placed boxes and began grooming Sin. Maybe giving her mom attention might make Tori crave it.

Sin munched away happily and stood by the hitching post, maybe this person wasn't so bad after all. Tori scooted out from behind her but eventually gave in and walked up to Seth. All foals were curious, they just couldn't help it. Also, Tori was pretty personable at home, it was only on the track that she stressed down.

I waited for Tori to come up to me, then slowly turned around and stretched out my hand once again. I put a little bit of grain in my hand, in case she wanted to chew on it, or just sniff it. I smelled a bit like her dam too, as the still loose winter hairs had flown all over my clothes. Hey Tori. I said gently, trying to coax the filly to stand next to me so I could halter her.

He sniffed the grain but wasn't big on food, yet walked up closer anyways. She was close enough to be haltered, yet was ready to take off if she got scared! Stretching out her neck she stepped closer and stuck her small black muzzle into Seth's chest, smelling her mom on this intrigueing stranger.

Noticing that she didn't want the grain, I gave it to Sin. Carefully, I lowered my hand to Tori's head and gently rubbed the star beneath her growing forelock fuzz. I moved down her head to her cheek, still gently rubbing, then scratching behind her ears.

Working my way over Poe's dark coat with the currycomb I imagined how life would be with a new splendid Thoroughbred colt. For years it had just been GS Gallant Prince but since the black Thoroughbred son of Impossible Determination had achieved the ultimate dream I had set out to accomplish with Prince, I wondered how easy or hard it would be for me to help Poe become just as great as Prince.
Shaking my head I rubbed Poe's shining coat lovingly gazing at the brilliant colt. Impulsively I gave him a hug and Poe lowered his head looking shyly up at me.

[OOC: Good job Melissa, sounds just like Poe! Soliel go ahead and roleplay Tori, I think you have a good idea of how she is! She's great to be around at home, a little nervous, but friendly, and at the tracks or taken anywhere unfamilar and she has a breakdown and stresses. She'll need lots of electrolytes in the summer!
Tori leaned into Seth as her ears got scratched she burred quietly and swished her baby tail.

Schweet.
I scratched behind her ears a little longer, grabbing the halter from the rail and bringing it under her nose. She sniffed it curiously, and lipped it a few times when it didn't do anything. I slid the nose band over her muzzle, going slow so she wouldn't spook as easily. Tori tossed her head, slipping her head out of the halter and taking a few steps back. Come on Tori. After I get this on, I'll scratch you more. I promised, slipping it over her muzzle again. She stood anxiously as I buckled the top strap, then let her go. She tried nipping the halter, but obviously couldn't reach it. She shook herself, spooking a little as the rings jingled. I grabbed the lead and clasped it to her halter before she could skitter away. Tori nibbled almost placidly on the lead, and I led her a few feet away from Sin and let her trot around me a little, using the lead as a lunge line. I didn't push it, and stopped her after a few minutes and patted her on the neck.

I watched Tori and Seth bonding. I knew they would make one heck of a team once the unique little Boo filly was all trained. I knew I would have one heck of a time breaking her, but I had broken a lot of young horses, and was confident that hers would be successful too. She had Boo's face, and his powerful hindqaurters, and most of all his eyes. Those big round eyes, just like Summers as well. However she didn't have his confidence, and I could already see that. Seth was definatly getting some emotions out of her though, and I could already tell she was opening up a little to her new owner. Poe had that bashful shy look, but I could already see it in his face that he adored Melissa, and was working it for all it was worth.

I slipped away to go see CJ again. The little colt ran up to me and gave me a little headbutt, before taking off and running around with Gussie. She herded him around, and did her own little training session with him before I gave my peace offering to Gussie and went and lead CJ around. He pranced and gave a little kick out. "No." I scolded as I gave him a small shank with the lead. He thought we were equals, I was his play buddy, but he had to know that I was boss. I halted him and said "Back." softly, pressing the tips of my fingers into the middle of his chest, which was a pressure point. He backed up slowly, and I told him to whoa, before giving him a good pat and taking off his lead to let him go play with his mom once more.

I finished brushing Poe with no problems. He was a very sweet colt and incredibly shy just like WB Thunderbird. You ready to do some work Poe? I asked the elegant Thoroughbred tickling his chin and Poe promptly sneezed and shook his head. Laughing softly I tugged gently at the lead and took 3 steps away from Disney before pulling gently at the lead rope again.
Poe glanced from me to Disney and took a small half-step toward me before glancing over his shoulder at Disney a second time.
