About Him
Rio is a large, handsome stallion who has superb conformation and a 'noble' look. He is not super intelligent in the barn, but when he gets on the track it is pure natural talent; he doesn't even have to think about it, he just does it. When Remington was young, he would sometimes try to evade work when it got too hard and he was being exercised with no competition, but he was never that strong-willed with Matty and would usually give up. Once you put him straight and get his respect, you will be good for life.
If another horse is taunting him, he can't stand it and everything is totally forgotten as he gets into gear. He will taunt another horse, get them worked up while he remains calm; planning his strategy to outwit and outrun his opponent with not only speed but skill and stamina. He is a sweetheart in the stables, but on the track he is harsh, vengeful, and extremely smart. Remington is so much like Boo that I just couldn't sell him in my foal crop, hence why he has the GS prefix only given to horses bred by us and then sold.
He is really an 'in your face' stallion, in a good way, and is well behaved only because he has grown up with Matty's harsh discipline, something many dangerous stallions lack. He did however have a "tongue" problem. He liked to stick it out when he was racing, so it had to be tied and he had wear a flash. Remington has showed us that he is bold and determined like his sire, and even a little pushy, not scared to fight or nip another horse to win, and he has have that drive to win. He's made Godolphin proud, and to date, no other SIM horse we know has had such a successful career like Remington has. He will be retired soon, for he was just named 2007 Horse of the Year, the ultimate title to finish his 'once in a lifetime' career. Remington is one of the few horses who can be evaluated, and truly deserve to acheive perfect. The only accomplishment yet to earn is to prove himself as a phenominal sire, and we are already off to an amazing start with some of the race world's most elite mares booked to him.
